From the Beginners Test to the Drivers License
-
How old do I have to be to get my beginners?
You must be at least 16 years of age.
-
Where can I write my beginners test? Get my Beginners Permit?
Students enrolled in our Driver Education Program can complete their written test with us. There is no additional fee for this, at this time, unless a student has to do a re-write. All others must take their written test with Access PEI, and their fees will apply.
-
How do I take my driving test? Get my license?
All students enrolled in our Driver Education Program are entitled to one driving test with Abegweit Driving School Limited. It is an “add on” to the Driver Education Program. There are no additional fees for this, at this time, unless a student has to take a re-test. All other novice drivers must take the driving test with Access PEI, and their fees will apply.
Upon completion of the written test, students are given the required paperwork and directed to Access PEI. There they must present the paperwork provided by us, the necessary identification and parental permission slip (if under 18 years of age), take an eye test presented by Access PEI and pay the fee for their permit.
-
When can I take my driving test?
All novice drivers must have their beginner’s permit for at least 275 days, if they take our Driver Education Program and 365 days if they do not complete our Driver Education Program, before they can take a driving test in the Province of Prince Edward Island. The only exception to this rule is someone who has held a valid drivers license from another country.
-
Do I have to take the "Novice Driver" course?
Not if you take our program.
-
Can I take my beginners test or driving test with Abegweit Driving and NOT take the Driver Education Program?
No.
-
Can I just take some in-vehicle lessons and not the classroom part?
Private lessons are done at the discretion of the driving school. The complete program is highly recommended for all novice drivers, regardless of age.
